Born in the 1960s

The story of the Darroze family begins at Villeneuve-de-Marsan with Jean. The famous gascon chef, in love with his South-West and all his greedy riches, introduces his son Francis to the art of the kitchen, of course, but also to the good wines, and makes him discover the most beautiful-eaux-eaux-de-vie d' armagnac. Not surprisingly, Francis was passionate about the armagnac and from the end of the 1960s, selected, raised, and bottled his beautiful discoveries. The Darroze adventure is launched. Marc, son of Francis, soon joined his father and together they became true treasure hunters. Today, Marc continues the adventure of the Armagnacs Darroze, one of the Maisons de l' eau-de-vie gasconne.

A partnership approach

Very quickly, with a remarkable visionary spirit, Francis Darroze understands that armagnac can be worked as wine: on a single field, without assembly, in lots of small, perfectly identifiable and traceable sizes. This philosophy, this vision, his son Marc today at the head of the House, will continue it. Thus the Darroze armagnacs highlight a great variety of rare life-water which highlights the work of the craftsmen of the appellation. This is why the Darroze armagnacs (unique collection) systematically present the properties on which their waters-of-life were born.

A Reason for Existence

The raison d'être of the Darroze House is also based on values of authenticity (no use of sugar, tannins or caramels), here we let time manage aging alone. The highlighting of local grape varieties and a continuous traditional distillation are also essential for the Darroze House. As for the respect, both of the producers and of the customers, it translates into a real partnership work. With an independence to which she is particularly attached, the Darroze House finally puts the notion of pleasure at the heart of its approach.

The assembly 30 years of age

In his collection "les grands assemblages", Marc Darroze combines with mastery and subtlety eaux-de-vie from different years, different styles, playing on the complementarity of each. So it is with the "30 years" (this means that the youngest of all the armagnacs assembled is 30 years old), the age at which the fresh fruit turns into dry and candied fruit, where the spicy character asserts itself and the first aromas of "rancio" appear. If at the age of 30 the ardor of youth takes a little step back, the balance of grandes-eaux-de-vie is essential.
